about

Larus minutus. 25 June 2001, 4.15 am, Rautalampi (Eastern Finland), Rastunsuo, Lake Lintujärvi. While the first rays of sunrise are falling on the bird lake, a colony of Little Gulls are busy with their morning chores. This species breeds in richly vegetated shore areas with dense reedbeds, often next to colonies of the Black-headed Gull. The bird is easy to identify by its piercing, nasal "kyek", often repeated several times without interruption. Black-headed Gull, Yellowhammer. 2'12"
