about

Gavia stellata. 6 August 2002, 6.05 am, Kaavi (Eastern Finland), Syrjävaara, Lake Kalaton. The relatively rare Red-throated Diver is most often found on marshy ponds in the wilderness. While nesting on these smaller waters, the birds commonly forage on larger lakes. In this late-summer recording, young Red-throated Divers, already fully-fledged, are flying with their parents above the nesting lake. 1'50"
