about

Picoides tridactylus. 11 June 1999, 5.25 am, Kuopio (Eastern Finland), the pond of Vuorilampi.
A secretive and quiet bird, the Three-toed Woodpecker lives deep inside pristine spruce forests. This recording was made at the bird´s nesthole in a wooded hollow. The nestlings are begging with a loud squeaking sound, while one of the parents is calling softly nearby. Robin, Song Thrush. 1'41".
